As the name suggests, the chapel is known for the numerous mirrors that are artfully embedded in the ceiling frescoes and walls. This was extremely unusual for sacred buildings of the Baroque period (built 1724-1725) and gives the room a unique look.
It is reported that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played one of the two organs in the Spiegelkapelle during his stays in Prague.
Due to its excellent acoustics and magnificent ambience, the chapel now serves primarily as a venue for regular classical concerts and as a highlight on tourist tours of the Clementinum.
